Canaan Mountain and Water Canyon
The wall of rock behind town is Canaan Mountain, a wilderness plateau that runs between here and Zion, and Water Canyon is the local trailhead into it: a permanent stream, waterfalls, and slot passages a short dirt road ride from any driveway in town. Zion's crowds deal with shuttle lines; Hildale locals walk into comparable country from the end of the street. The town also has its own K-8 and high school, and Utah Tech opened an extension campus here in 2021, which says a lot about where the community is headed.
